Project Terms
Clear, fair terms that honor artists as creative partners
Creative Contribution
Each accepted artist creates one original illustration inspired by their selected scene. Available scenes are limited and assigned on a first-come, first-served basis once an artist is formally accepted into the project.
Ownership & License
You retain 100% ownership of your artwork. Artists grant Chrysalis a non-exclusive license to reproduce the artwork in the book, use it for marketing, and sell official Chrysalis print-on-demand prints.
You remain free to sell prints independently, use the artwork in your portfolio, and license it elsewhere.
Official Prints
Inclusion in the book automatically includes participation in official Chrysalis print offerings. All artwork will be available as official prints through one designated print-on-demand provider. Print sales through Chrysalis are split 50/50 on net margin (sale price minus production cost and processing fees).
Book Profit Split
After direct production costs (printing, packaging, shipping) are covered, net profit from book sales is split:
With 30 contributing artists, each artist receives an equal share of the 50% artist pool.
Presales & Payouts
Presales fund production. Printing begins once the minimum production threshold required by our printing partner is met. No artist payouts occur until production costs are secured.
Once profitable, payouts are distributed quarterly. Participating artists will receive summary reporting outlining book sales, print sales, production costs, and calculated net profit.
Creative Control & Contract
Chrysalis retains final authority over book layout, sequencing, formatting, and production decisions. Final artwork must meet technical specifications provided by Chrysalis to ensure print quality.
All participating artists will sign a formal agreement locking these terms for this specific project.
